Description:

Day. 1

The first day we start very early, because we have a long and exhausting day.

We pick you up at 5:00AM from your hotel / hostel or at the Plaza de Armas in Talca. After 1.5 hrs we get through the village Los Queñes where we will spend the night and arrive this evening. But for now we drive more than an hour to the Chilean border post and officially leave Chile. (Do not forget your passport!) After a further 40 minutes on the Vergara Pass at 2500 meters, we reach the car park at the Argentine border post. After the short entry formalities, we start the hike at 2450 meters altitude. Manageable 1050 vertical meters and 8 Km ahead. Halfway to the summit we already get the slight sulfur smell in the nose, which becomes more intense with every meter. At the same time the views of the surrounding mountains gets more breathtaking.

After about 3.5 - 4 hrs., We reach the huge caldera of the volcano Peteroa at 3500 meters, right and left encircled by neighbouring volcanoes Planchon and Azufre.

Now we descend into the caldera and in a short time, we reach two huge crater of about 200m diameter.

Everywhere around us, the sulphur steamis coming out from the earth, which is so hot that you, if you not careful, can burn your skin.

After a long break, we begin the descent and reach our car within 2.5 hrs. For the return trip to the village Los Queñes in Chile, we need about 2 hours.

A delicious dinner and the heated hot tub waiting for us there.

Overnight in Los Queñes.

Day. 2

Half Day Rafting at the Rio Teno and Wine Tour

After the breakfast we are preparing for the half-day, tour Rafting.

Before training and a safety talk we will receive helmet, life jackets, splash jackets, and neoprene wetsuits. We begin the adventure and enjoy 12 kilometers of the Teno River.

After lunch, we continue to Curico.

To get a brief insight into the Chilean wine culture we visit the modern winery Miguel Torres. During the tour of the winery, the cellar and the bottling plant, we learn the complete process from vintage to the finished wine bottle.

To explore the "exquisite tastes" of the countryside, we finish the tour with a tasting of different wine varieties before we return to Talca, where we arrive 6:00PM.
