Ramal Talca– Constitución and the Maguellines Trek

(Easy) All the year

Departure at 6:45AM at your Hotel / Hostel in Talca or at the Plaza de Armas.

At 07:15AM stars the adventurous ride on the oldest and the last narrow-gauge railway in Chile. The train winds it´s way along the Rio Maule all the way to Constitución. During the journey the train stops from time to time at small villages. For a lot of these villagers the train is the only possibility to go to the city.

It is recommended to sit on the left side of the train (when facing the direction of travel) to enjoy the best views. Warm clothes are also important because it´s very chilli in the morning.

In Constitución we will meet you from the train to continue the day with the easy 2 hour Maguellines Trek along the coastal cliffs.

During the hike, which starts ar Constitución harbor 5km away, you can enjoy the stunning landscape and wide array of flora and with some luck you can see sea lions sunbathing at the turning point of our hike.

At the beach we will return, mostly over big rocks, to the small harbor.

Back in Constitución we will stop at the town´s landmark, the rock Piedra de la Iglesia, where around 10001 seagulls and pelicans nest. Final visit in Constitución is the town´s hill Mutrun where we have a nice view over the ocean and the mouth of the Rio Maule.

After this we will return to Talca where we will arrive around 07:00PM
